Geoff Heeter is an entrepreneur and committed community builder rooted in the New River Gorge region. As the owner and manager of Opossum Creek Retreat cabins, his professional life is intrinsically tied to the area's tourism and hospitality sector. His interests extend into civic leadership where he helped establish and maintains the symbiotic trio of the Fayette County Education Fund 501(c)(3), the New River Birding and Nature Festival, and Leadership Fayette County.
A frequent speaker on local issues, he has addressed the region's increased traffic following the National Park designation and the need for community-driven development, focused on "happening for us, not to us." Since 2024, he's working with the North of the Bridge Mafia coffee group and the Empowerment Collaborative in middle schools to raise awareness for safer roads.
Additionally, he volunteers with the celebratory Good News Fayette County project and has participated in peer-to-peer leadership programming with Culver Academies.
