For a weekend of great birding and gardening fun with hummingbirds, native plants, butterflies, birds of the Gorge, bird banding, presentations and demonstrations, join master bander and hummingbird expert Dr. Bill Hilton Jr., local gardening specialist Terri Johnson, and New River Birding & Nature Center staff as we discover the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds feeding, nesting, migration, and behavior, and how to design a hummingbird habitat in your backyard, schoolyard or nature center.
August 23, 6 p.m. - dinner and presentation in Hawks Nest Restaurant:
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds: “From Your Yard to Costa Rica… and Back!”
August 24, 8 - 4 p.m. - Hummingbird Banding and Native Plants (Midland Trail Pavilion)
August 24, 6 p.m. - dinner and presentation in Hawks Nest Restaurant:
Birds of the New River Gorge: from residents to migrants, birding by ear, and habitat.
August 25, 8 - 12 p.m. - Songbird Banding and Native Plants (Midland Trail Pavilion)
Weekend Package includes: two dinners, presentations, and two days of programming. Lodging and Aerial Tramway and Jetboat rides are available at additional costs.
Reservations are required. Check back for 2014 details and registration.
Overnight package: based on double occupancy, $425 ; single occupancy/attendee, $310. Rates include room, express breakfast, two dinners, presentations and banding program, and all taxes and gratuities.
Attending program only (no lodging), $125 per person and includes two dinners, presentation and banding, and all taxes and gratuities.

Programming provided by the 501-C3 Fayette County Education Fund - to secure the future of Fayette County by providing relevant Leadership and Environmental Training to the community, with an emphasis on youth education, and New River Birding & Nature Center - Sharing the secrets of science and nature in the New River watershed with West Virginians and their friends.
Donors of $25 or more, receive a Perky-Pet Hummingbird Feeder; $50 or more, receive a Perky-Pet Hummingbird Feeder and a New River Birding & Nature Festival t-shirt! Plants from Honeysuckle Hill Gardens are also available through donation.

The New River Hummingbird Festival is a program of New River Birding & Nature Center located in Wolf Creek Park, Fayette County, WV; born in 2010 of the internationally acclaimed annual New River Birding and Nature Festival.
