Bill Thompson, III

New River Birding & Nature Center’s exclusive Fall Birding Weekend is limited to 12 guests. This up-close hands-on weekend offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Bill Thompson, III and the New River Birding & Nature Center staff to enhance your birding skills and cultivate new friendships.

We begin Friday at 6 p.m. with dinner and a raptor presentation (Hawk Talk) with New River Birding & Nature Center's Consulting Director, Bill Hilton Jr. at the Cathedral Cafe.

Saturday morning rendezvous bright and early at 6 a.m. at the Pollard's
residence in Oak Hill for breakfast, and we'll be on our way to the
Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory (we provide field trip transportation).
Lunch can be bought at a unique local market to be had in the field later,
then we're off to a 20 to 30 minute hike (eight-tenths of a mile, rated
moderate difficulty) up the mountain to the Hanging Rock Tower. The
day will be spent with former Hawk Mountain staff member Bill Hilton Jr.,
enhancing your skills in raptor identification with breathtaking raptor views
and scenery. New River Birding & Nature Center
